Volcom Stone and SpoTlight productions presents… the third annual AmsterDamnAm contest!
Europe’s premiere amateur street skateboarding contest, AmsterDamnAm 2008 returns to Amsterdam Skatepark on July 18,19 and 20 and has a overall purse of 15,000 euros. ($23,640 USD at the moment this press release is being created.) First and Second place win plane tickets to Tampa Am 2009 in Tampa, Florida, USA, and are seeded directly into the semifinals. The top 12 placings will be qualified for Tampa Am 2009.
The schedule is as follows:
July 18, arrival day, BBQ at either the Marnix bowl or Amsterdam Skatepark’s new mini- ramp set up, depending on the weather.
July 19, Street qualifiers / Volcom Entertainment presents ASG live at the Winston Club. Doors open at 9 PM.
July 20, Street semifinals, finals, and best trick.
-100 skaters maximum

-Skatepark opens at 10:30 every morning.
Directions: Fly to Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam. (AMS) Take the train from the station inside to the airport to Centraal Station. (about 15 minutes and 5 euros.) Once at the station, exit the rear doors of the station and head towards the water. Once you arrive at the only street, go left and walk down to where the blue ferryboats are. The boats are free and you will want to take the last boat on the left, next to the benches.
Once arriving on the other side, the skatepark is straight ahead and to the right, in the old industrial area (shipyard).
-Hotels in Amsterdam tend to be expensive and hard to find at the last minute. If you are planning on coming, take a look at booking.com and get a leg up on reserving a room! Generally you will want to be in or around the Centraal Station, if not be aware when you make the reservation, verify the location of the hotel, otherwise it could be a big surprise! -Bikes are a great way to get around the city quickly and can be rented everywhere. -KLM and Transavia are both Dutch airline companies who have many flights in and out per day to most countries

Zumiez Skatepark
Skatepark Zumiez invites you to the Go Skateboarding Day 2008,
June 21st, Skatepark Zumiez will host the Go Skateboarding Day a free event for skateboarders only.
The park opens at 10am en closes at 11pm.
Entrance to the park is for free.
In the afternoon there’s the C1RCA minirampjam. There’s 100 euro’s in cash for the best line and another 100 for the best trick on the specially built extension. We’ll have a bunch of free gear to give away aswel. So shred that damned miniramp! We forgot the deathride on the Zumiez B-day Party so you get it now. You know the deal, last man standing wins weight in beer!
In the evening there’s the Eastpak Grill Session. Free BBQ for everybody! Come and taste the world famous zumiez sausages. Those sausages will make you thirsty, we know, that’s why we give away 2 barrels of beer.

In samenwerking met Hotzone en Sublime is er weer een kokendheet feest neergezet voor boarders, surfers en strandgangers tijdens de ijskoude dagen rondom kerst. Rock de kalkoenen van je dijen en blaf het jaar uit met een dikke kater!

VOLCOM TOUR GOES TO MAINLAND EUROPE WITH YEAR LONG DISASTER & BIRDS OF AVALON
Volcom Entertainment is proud to announce the European portion of the 2007 Volcom Tour with Year Long
Disaster and Birds Of Avalon coming to mainland Europe this November. All shows will be free.
Los Angeles, CA’s Year Long Disaster are rock n’ roll power trio that feature Daniel Davies (son of Kinks guitarist
Dave Davies) on guitar and vocals, Rich Mullins (ex-Karma To Burn, Speedealer) on bass, and Brad
Hargreaves (Third Eye Blind) behind the drum kit. Recently completing their debut full-length album recorded
in Tucson, AZ with Jim Waters (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, R.L. Burnside), this self-titled effort is set for
release in the US on Oct. 9th and in Europe in early 2008. Year Long Disaster is currently on tour in the US
with Turbonegro.
Raleigh, NC’s Birds Of Avalon features former The Cherry Valence members and husband and wife team
of Paul Siler and Cheetie Kumar. After leaving The Cherry Valence, Siler and Kumar returned to Raleigh
and got to work putting together a new band, recruiting local area musicians, Craig Tilley (The Weather)
on vocals, Scott Nurkin (Dynamite Brothers) on drums, and David Mueller on bass, with Siler and Kumar
rounding out the group as dueling axe slingers. Birds of Avalon’s debut release, Bazaar Bazaar, was produced
and recorded by Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Wilco, Let’s Active), Bryan Quast, and Greg Elkins, it was
released in the US in May ’07 and will be released in Europe in early 2008. Birds Of Avalon is currently on
tour with The Flaming Lips in the US.
Year Long Disaster and Birds Of Avalon are both signed to Volcom Entertainment, a US based record label,
and subsidiary of the Volcom Clothing brand.

Wijk aan Zee
Slecht weer, windgolven, inschrijven op een zware kuttijd en toch 120 deelnemers! De organisatie is stoked! Iedereen enorm bedankt! Wat een supersfeertje en wat een hoog niveau qua surf. Speciale dank naar Volcom die het grotendeels mogelijk maakte en dikke duimen omhoog voor de cameracrew, editors, jury en wedstrijdleiding. Zonder de inzet van deze bikkels zou het allemaal niet mogelijk zijn.

Volcomics Int. art show

In May, Volcom launched a worldwide artshow tour and 60-page comic book in support of the biggest Volcom Featured Artist Series line ever.
The project was born from our love of the underground comic movement and looked to capture its raw energy and low-fi means by creating a comic book that is authentic down to the paper stock and page count.
The comic book was over two years on the making and features legendary skateboard artists Jim Phillips and VCJ as well as some of the biggest creative contributors to skateboarding today - Michael Sieben, Todd Bratrud and Travis Millard. In addition to skate-art heavyweights the book features artists/athletes from the worlds of surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding such as Mark Appleyard, Ozzie Wright, and Jamie Lynn.
The art show series will begin May 19th at Fuse gallery in New York City and will continue through the summer with stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tokyo and London. The openings will include drawings by all Holiday 2007 Volcom Featured Artists, as well as scribblings by all twenty-eight artists that contributed to the book. There will be artists in attendance and a limited number of t-shirts and books to be given away for free at each opening reception. Volcom will be producing fifteen thousand copies of the comic for free, with worldwide distribution.
